DISPOP – Issue #1
DISPOP is not a zine. It is a 90-page indictment against the incorrect and improper use of the word “counterculture”. It is our response to a poorly-written and misguided article written about the local music scene. Of course, as regular gig-goers and organizers ourselves, we got to have our say as well on the matter. And as petty as we are, of course, we bit.
The first issue contains a powerhouse cast of characters in the local music scene. Including: Marcid, Awkward Dancer, Gleam, Vedas, Offals, Flowr, The Pervs. But not just the bands, mind you. We also brought in each individual and collectives we consider as main components in making the local music scene more alive as it is nowadays (including organizers and labels: Blaxkbox 6000 Production, BCHC, and Hostile Youth, Drop-D of LATAG, Subculture Merch) and photographers and videographers (Dexter Duran, Bordz Patak, Exekiel Into, Cypho, Neo Vignette Digizine). Plus essays, music reviews and a coverage on Panawagan II art exhibit.
